GIITT at The Island I Would Like Lab 2025: Empowering Youth for a Climate-Neutral Mediterranean

In October 2025, GIITT took part in the very first The Island I Would Like Lab” held on the island of Brač, Croatia. The event marked an important milestone for sustainable island innovation in the Mediterranean — bringing together young people, researchers, and community leaders to imagine and design climate-neutral futures.

Contributing to a New Vision for Island Sustainability

During the Lab, GIITT contributed to two key activities:

  • Ask Your Citizen on CaN — Survey Corner
Engaging communities directly and gathering insights from citizens about their needs and climate priorities.
  • Financing the Transition Discussion
Exploring practical pathways and financial strategies that can support islands in shifting toward more sustainable, low-carbon models.

Three Islands, One Shared Goal

The CO₂ PACMAN project connects three Mediterranean islands:

  • Brač (Croatia)
  • Elba (Italy)
  • Crete (Greece)

Despite their different cultures and geographies, these islands share a powerful common mission: achieving climate neutrality through education, innovation, and community-driven transformation.
